2008 Boone County Fire Protection District Board Election

The Boone County Fire Protection District is the largest volunteer fire department in the state of Missouri. It is governed by a three-member board elected by the voters of the Fire Protection District. Columbia has its own Fire Department, so only Boone County residents outside of Columbia vote in this election. The election is non-partisan, which means that candidates do not run as members of a political party or hold primary elections. The Board oversees the Fire District operations and appoints the fire chief. The fire chief designates such volunteers and career staff as is authorized by the Board and is essential to carry out the responsibilities of the Fire District, including officers who assist the fire chief in the management of the Fire District.
